2009 Season - Week 2
H stands for Hall of Fame (Again)
Andy H moved to the top of the Premiership after his Perivale Pirates scored 53 points in week 2. This was Perivale Pirates 8th visit to the Scoring Hall Of Fame after they hit the half hundred mark. He last did it in week 14 in 2007, the year he made the Hall 7 times on his way to a record setting total of 670 points, 96 more than anyone else has ever totalled. Is H on his way to another massive season or is it too early to tell?
BUMS Red Cross Hospital
It’s been a bad start to the season for some BUMS owners with a number of key players going down with injuries. First Rounder and former NFL MVP LaDainain Tomlinson missed week 2 for the French (Old) Farts, the first time LT has ever missed a regular season game in his career. In the opener at Cowboys Stadium (does every thing have to be bigger in Texas?) Marion Barber suffered a Quad injury and will miss week 3 and probably week 4 for Leamington Spartans. Kevin Walter, also on the Spartans roster, missed week 2 with a hamstring injury. You have to wonder how big rookie Craig’s lead would be in the Conference if he had a healthy team. Taken early in the second round by Cheryl, kicker Matt Bryant hasn’t kicked a ball yet this season due to a hamstring injury and has lost his job to Mike Nugent in Tampa Bay. Binty Bombers lost wide receiver Anthony Gonzalez for an estimated 8 weeks in the first week of the season after a bad injury to his knee. Also out in week 1 was Hakeem Nicks, Phoenix Fire Warriors rookie receiver who missed week 2 and likely will miss this week. Westmorland’s first rounder Brian Westbrook sprained his ankle late in the week 2 game and we await tests to see how serious it will be, but a high ankle sprain can take a month to overcome. Pierre Thomas, running back for The Misunderstood missed the first game of the season and was in for just 2 plays of the second game as he recovers from a sprained MCL. It looks like he will be back for next week but Dave G is still looking forward to Trading Day 1 which is before the week 6 fixtures on Sunday Oct 18 as today his franchise receiver Plaxico Burress started his 2 year jail sentence for shooting himself in the leg in a New York nightclub last November. We will trade at 4:30pm before the Sky doubleheader and with 42 players still yet to open their accounts this will be a good time to lose the deadwood. It could get very busy.
BUMS on Seats.
After a week off we will be back to BUMS HQ on Sunday for Cheryl and Gareth’s 22nd Wedding Anniversary and from 6pm for the 0-2 Tennessee Titans @ 2-0 New York Jets followed by Miami (0-2) @ San Diego (1-1). All are welcome.
